Moreover, all 40mm Grenade Round types behave like bullets while in flight like any other firearm in DayZ. The scores assigned to the M79 are for the weapon/Projectile combo only and do not consider the characteristics of the explosive round when it detonates.
The break action M79 Grenade Launcher that fires 40mm Chemical Gas Grenade Rounds. The Chemical Gas Round detonates on impact with any surface in DayZ and does not have a minimum safe distance. Once detonated, gas will emit in a small area around where the gas round hit. This gas will remain for a short amount of time and give players the deadly gas poisoning disease if they remain in the gas. However, because AI cannot get gas poisoning, it will drain their health slowly until they die instead. All projectiles fired from the M79 Grenade Launcher inflict damage similar to other weapons of DayZ and also drop off in damage like them too. Moreover, all 40mm Grenade Road types behave like bullets while in flight like any other firearm in DayZ.
The break action M79 Grenade Launcher that fires 40mm Smoke Grenade Rounds. The Smoke Rounds detonate immediately after firing and will bounce off of nearly any surface in DayZ. The Smoke Grenade Round will last for around 40 seconds before no more smoke is emitted from the projectile. All 40mm Grenade Round types behave like bullets while in flight like any other firearm in DayZ. However, these Smoke Rounds do not directly damage players or AI like the other 40mm rounds. Nor do they penetrate surfaces like the other grenade launcher ammo types. The scores assigned to the M79 are for the weapon/Projectile combo only and do not consider the characteristics of the chemical gas round when it detonates.
The Projectile category in DayZ is considered launchers of other items. For example, a launcher includes items like the Grenade Launcher, Flare Gun, RPG or Crossbow. The word Projectile is a broad term for an independent object under the influence of gravity and air resistance, so could be any object launched from any gun in DayZ. For the sake of simplicity then, the Projectile category in DayZ is reserved for items that fire projectiles, yet don't produce flying bullets. Instead of a bullet an RPG creates a flying rocket projectile, a crossbow creates a flying bolt projectile, a Flare Gun creates a flying Flare projectile, etc.
