Turning Off Flares
DayZ Tip
The Road Flare works under water and cannot be turned off unless it becomes ruined, but can now be placed in a fireplace to dispose of. However, going in a vehicle with a road flare will turn it off.
It has 100 HP like players, so becomes ruined quickly by shooting it to hide your tracks.
After becoming ruined, the road flare has a particle effect seen in the image which lasts for 1 minute.
Alternatively, the flare uses all of its fuel in 20 minutes and will fully extinguish after 21 minutes total.
