How to Escape From Wolves

Anything you throw in the vicinity of a wolf has the potential to distract it, not just meat.
However, meat, fat and bones has a higher chance of distracting wolves and appears to distract them for longer.
Beware that dropping meat doesn't work, you have to throw it. Wolves don't care if it's boiled, baked, dried or raw though. The same goes for fat. Also note that opened cans of food and guts don't distract wolves the same way meat, lard and bones do.
So when you hear the wolf howls, prepare to throw the item which will distract them. Run in the opposite direction you threw the item as fast as possible. If you did this correctly, they will not chase you anymore.
