There is only one animation for being uncon on the floor, which will play depending on the direction of damage. Because of this, the lower quarter indicates the position of the shooter that made the player go unconscious.
While 90 degrees is a big angle, the probability of the shooter being in the center is much much higher. Due to this, we can predict where the shooter is based on the leg that is straight. Where the straight leg points, is probably where the shooter is.
